This year has to have been the wettest on record, certainly it is the wettest I can remember.
The impact on industry has been huge. The building trade have laid off men in their thousands and the farmers have taken a battering.
One group of people have carried on through all the wind and rain, the humble posties. The man who delivers on this round has just dropped a small package off for me and the term drowned rat comes to mind. He is dripping from head to foot as he has been many times this year. The rain has been relentless since around 6:30 and shows no sign of slackening off.He has another hour or so in the torrent before he can get back to base and then the warm dry haven of his home.Whatever these people get paid it is not enough. I salute the posties everywhere they do a sterling job and do we thank them? no we grumble if they are a little late. So look kindly on your postie and just think if you would have the staying power to do their job, just think not only the weather but grumpy people and crazed dogs to contend with and then go home and start it all over again the next day
Well this rain is welcome to some
