We were promised snow and a lot of it today, starting in the early afternoon and getting heavier into the night. We are told this snow is likely to be 2" deep, that's right 2" and there is a panic. That amount of snow is a trifle to most countries that have snow but here believe me it will bring things grinding to a halt. Not here on the island and other outlying places where common sense and the brain power to just get on with it prevail but some cities get really panic stricken. The Lakeland fells are due a lot more of course and road closures will occur there.
In the big freeze of 1963 I think it was, everybody got to work and school, life just went on,now it seems now we are incapable of overcoming a few inches of snow.
As it happens it won't happen, the snow I mean. At least at the moment it is raining heavily and the temp is 2c so unless we get a sudden temp drop shortly rain is what it will remain. Pity really it's not as pretty as snow.
I had a play with my new toy today. I washed some bedding in the new machine. Technology has moved on since my last machine, which fell off it's perch last week.
This one uses power and water much more efficiently and is so quiet compared with the old one. when that beast was on spin it sounded like a jet engine screaming away. Very happy with the results and the higher spin speed meant the washing came out almost dry.The new machine is not as deep as the old one so bright spark me thought I could push it back under the worktop a little so any spills would not make a mess on the machine. Good idea? nope which I discover when I tried to fill the drawers with powder and fabric softener. No room to get them in, GGGRRR. So I had to struggle and pull the machine out a little to reach them. Another brainwave backfired.See you are never too old to be a smartie pants
Have fun folks

Hope your new washer lives up to all your expectations!
Glad it isn't just me who tries to go just that one step further forward and falls flat on their face!!!! Glad the new washer is working well though.
We often get several feet, but so far this winter has not been too bad.
Not like my friends in Sapporo have, with 5 feet in one fall being more or less normal, but, they get by, the roads are cleared and the Trains all run on time.
Glad your Machine works Mickey.
