Red flag flying in Leiden


Civil servants were demonstrating in Leiden today. Their demands were modest: only a slight pay increase. At the same time the new government gave itself a wopping 30% pay increase: from about € 9,400 per month to € 12,000 for Cabinet ministers.
Protesting like this is quite popular in Holland: it is a day out for the participants.
