British Leyland DMU

Built 1987-1988 by British Leyland at Workington, the 35 Class 155 two-car DMUs soon developed a habit of the doors opening whilst in motion. These problems were eventually solved, but then it was decided to convert the units into single car sets, to replace the aging Class 121 and 122 'Bubble Cars'. Class 153 was the result.
Here is 155310 at Manchester Piccadilly with a service to Cardiff. This became 153310 and 153360. 7 further Class 155s were built for West Yorkshire PTE in 1988, and still remain in their original formations, and now owned by Northern Rail based at Leeds. Standing alongside is West Yorkshire liveried 158903.
