Bodhidharma


Bodhidharma is credited with the having brought the Chan form of Buddhism (from which Zen derives) to China early in the 6th century. Legend has it that he spent nine years in meditation facing a wall. The drawing is by Hakuin, who lived in Japan in the 18th century
