A Conversion

In the early 19th century this town prospered on the woollen industry with over 20 cloth mills. The building in the photograph was named Court Mill and the part which survives became a council-operated youth centre. When the bankers ran away with all the money, and we were punished for their sins with austerity, the youth centres were closed and the buildings sold. Court Mill was converted into private housing with a fine view over the park.
