Vietnam 2016 / Bac Ha

"Mia" or sugar cane in our language is used in Vietnam in many different ways.
In large metal appliances, juice is still traditionally extracted from the plant in families - "nuoc mia". The juice is a welcome refreshment, enjoyed pure or in different drinks, also as an ingredient in dishes it is used. It gives a sweet, fine note to drinks and dishes. The stems of the sugar cane are also used to skewer and grill food. Chewed after the meal it gives a fresh, clean feeling in the mouth.

This lady has apparently just enjoyed a fine meal ;-)
