Loch Etive
Reflecting 1000 metres
I was fortunate to also visit Loch Etive when it was flat calm. Seeing a 1000 metre mountain reflected in the water is kind of surreal.
Wind Machines
This was taken in the Ochils hills in Scotland during a cloud inversion. The wind turbines can just be seen above the level of the cloud.
Dumyat
This is a mobile shot I took on my walk last week to climb to the top of this hill which is called Dumyat. I live near here so generally try and climb it weekly to keep my hill fitness up. This picture was taken on my way back to my car near the wonderful little village of Blairlogie.
Corrichoich (The Glen of mist)
This is another view of Maiden's Pap that I took in the morning when wild camping there. It was fantastic. I was staying in my tent listening to the sound of the haunting Curlew and the alien sound of Snipe. I awoke to a lovely sunrise. The sea mist was surrounding the hill of Maiden's Pap, with the one remaining building of the settlement of Corrichoich in the foreground.
Maiden's Pap and Morven
Maiden's Pap is named such because is it the shape of a human breast. Morven, the hill that is behind in this picture is much bigger and the origin of the name is (I think Big Hill). It is the the tallest hill in the region of Caithness that is in the far north of Scotland.
Tay Estuary
This is the south shore of the River Tay estuary heading westward from Balmerino. There is a delightful strip of broad leaved trees along this bank that is part of the Fife Coastal path. It was a lovely day to visit here.
Bothy water
This is the burn (stream) that runs past the Lairig Leacach Bothy, the peak in the background is called Stob Ban. We used this as our water source when we stayed there. This bothy is maintained by the Mountain bothy association and it is open for anyone to stay there as a shelter.
Loch lubhair
I was driving north and I saw that this loch was calm, like a mirror. I had to stop and grab a picture.
Towards Morvich
This was taken not long after leaving Camban Bothy, where we had stayed the night. We were heading to Morvich and the end of Affric Kintail way. This was the most rugged and mountainous part of the trail.
Loch an Eilein
I wild camped in this very spot under a tarp. I hoped for a sunrise, but this was the only shot that I got. I was still lying in my sleeping bag and the cloud was racing eastward. It was still great to have been here!
Loch Beinn a’Mheadhain
I travelled here specifically for the dark skies. Unfortunately the clouds conspired against me in this direction and were illuminated by the lights from a town many miles away. Nevertheless, I was fairly pleased with this.
Loch Etive
I visited Loch Etive in Scotland and decided to walk along the western side for a while. Once the path stops it's not the easiest of walks. It was worth it though as I came across this tree. I was shooting into the light, but this was the composition that I wanted...
Ben Ledi
This is an old picture of dawn on Ben Ledi looking north that I have re-done in Lightroom. Most of my old pictures were originally processed from Raw using Luminance HDR and Gimp.
Sunrise in Glen Affric
I took this in the morning after a night of wild camping in Glen Affric when I was walking the 44 mile (77km) Affric Kintail way. I was rewarded with an awesome night sky and the sunrise was just amazing. I got so many pictures I hardly had time for breakfast! This was one of the pictures with the sun bursting through the misty Scots pines.
Lairig Leacach in Winter
This is a mobile shot. We decided to walk up the Lairig Leacach pass to the bothy in the snow. It usually takes 1.5 hours, but it took us three hours to get here. Everything was buried, including the rivers, so we had to melt snow over the fire - Luckily we bought coal! We reached the bothy just as it was getting dark. You can see my friend in the doorway

Doggy Dreams
This is three pictures I assembled in Gimp, just for fun. I took a shot of my dog sleeping on the couch, then I added a shot I took in a forest. Then finished it off with a picture that I took of my neighbours Husky. I always wondered what my dog dreams about so I thought I'd give it a try to imagine!
