GD-C3R Remote Control for Canon EOS Cameras

Early in December 2011, I bought a Hong Kong-made MK-RC6 off Amazon, cost just over £15 ($22?) It turned out to be a piece of junk, with a transmission range of less than three feet. However I did obtain a refund. Now more cautious, I went to the local Leica agents in Beauly, and asked them what they had which would do the job without bankrupting me. They produced this gadget, plugged it into my Caonn 50D, and demonstrated that ot worked perfectly up to thirty feet or so to trigger the camera, both for instant shots, and for long exposures in Bulb mode. They charged me £19.99 (about $30). The Canon's LC-5 is £378.99! IT will operate over the distance of a football field, but I don't need the extra distance over thirty feet or so, and I certainly don't need the Canon price.
The icing on the cake, in having bought the Canon EOS 6D recently, is discovering it works with that as well, although the 6D can also be remotely controlled with a smartphone app - if you have the appropriate smartphone.
