Im Dom befindet sich eine große Krypta, die Grablege der welfischen Fürsten der braunschweigischen Linie vom 17. Jahrhundert bis in das 19. Jahrhundert. Im PiP kann man den besonders geschmückten Sarkophag des "Schwarzen Herzogs" sehen.
