L'arbre au milieu du canal est un cyprès chauve ou cyprès de Louisiane . Cet arbre peut mesurer jusqu'à 30 mètres de haut et a la particularité de perdre ses feuilles en hiver, d'ou son nom . En automne il devient roux avant la chute des feuilles . Il affectionne les milieux humides comme à Cheverny , les "pieds" dans l'eau !
