Remains of a 19th century house owned by an early settler, along a trail in the Eno River State Park. It looks like it won't be standing much longer. I have posted an earlier photo at www.ipernity.com/doc/rlovet/48443008 . Information about the house and photos by Mark Miles can be found at markallmywords.com/2019/10/20/cole-house-eno-river-state-park
Fiddle and Bow

In "normal" times I'd be playing fiddle with my band on Mondays, but these days of the pandemic I play it at home, trying to keep in practice and maybe even learn a few new licks.

Sarvis Leaves, June

The sarvises (Amelanchier arborea) are among the earliest trees to blossom in the spring. This one is surely the first to turn, display its fall color in June. It's an old tree, though, and I suspect it's on its last legs.

The red one is a carnation, I think. I don't know the name of the green one, but I like its energetic tangle.

Neighborhood Iris

A nice pause while walking the dog this afternoon. The pause was for his sake, but as I waited, this iris's presence made itself felt.
