In a swirl of dead leaves, with ferns for shade, the fawn nestled up against the lattice of our deck, stayed there all afternoon, impervious to my attention. I kept a good distance, using a zoom lens. The mother must have come for it in the evening. I did see a doe grazing nearby. The fawn was gone in the morning and hasn't yet returned.
