HWW Bradford West Yorkshire 15th April 2025
Bradford Industrial Museum has a transportation section mainly Jowett cars and vans with a few motor bikes. The railway is represented by an industrial steam engine and lots of local railway & station signage & plates. The Bradford Exchange signs are in British Railways North-Eastern Region orange.
HWW to everyone. Have a great mid-week day.

HBM Grosmont North Yorkshire 19th October 2024
A classic North Eastern Railway station platform bench at Grosmont on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. It was a bit wet for sitting around.
HBM to everyone. Enjoy the start of another week.

HFF Thorne South Yorkshire England 15th May 1974
Thorne South station where my father worked as a porter in the 1940s. British Railways Class 31 diesels 31105 & 31235 pass eastwards with a train of rails.
The photo was taken to highlight the Great Central Railway remains rather than the engines - rather obviously! All that was left of the Victorian station by 1974 were these rather delicate railings & gas lamp standard on the Down side & the partial wall on the Up platform. The truncated supports for the platform awnings can be seen on the Up side together with the fading Eastern Region blue "Thorne" running in sign. Later the whole lot was bulldozed and a new station built left of this spot which only ever had bus shelter waiting areas. The old MS&L stationmaster's house still stands however below and to the left of this view.
HFF to everyone. Have a great weekend.

HWW Bramcote Nottinghamshire 18th March 2025
My wife's mother worked in the Post Office in the small Nottinghamshire village of Bramcote in the late 1920s-early 1930s. We recently found a reference to the "Old Post Office" online so decided to take a look.
Surprisingly the Old Post Office still had its old Post Office sign! It is now a private residence and Bramcote is no longer a small village being virtually connected to the city of Nottingham.
HWW to everyone. Have a great day.

HBM Great Central Railway Loughborough Leicestershire 11th April 2025
Despite the name on the bench this is Loughborough! The Great Central Railway is a heritage line that runs to Leicester but before it was closed as a main line in 1966 by BR it used to run to London Marylebone via Rugby. The bench was saved for preservation when that station closed.
HBM to everybody. Enjoy the start of the new week.

HFF Clumber Park Nottinghamshire 10t Apri 2025
Clumber Park is a country park in The Dukeries near Worksop. The estate, which was the seat of the Pelham-Clintons, Dukes of Newcastle, was purchased by the National Trust in 1946.
I have to confess that this fence is pretty low key! Nevertheless HFF to everyone, Have a great weekend.

HWW Rufford Abbey Nottinghamshire 4th April 2025
The original Cistercian Rufford Abbey was founded by Gilbert de Gant in 1147. After Henry VIII's Dissolution of the monasteries the estate was granted to George Talbot, 4th Earl of Shrewsbury, partly demolished and converted to a country house between 1560 and 1590. The abbey and 150 acres of grounds were bought by Nottinghamshire County Council in 1952. In 1956 the late 17th century north and east wings were demolished and the remains opened to the public by the Council.
HWW to everyone. Enjoy the day.

Tyndrum Scotland 2nd October 2007
A Scottish rail journey from 18 years ago. I travelled up to Fort William on the Scotrail overnight sleeper from Crewe pulled by EWS Class 67 diesel 67007. Here we are entering the horseshoe curve between Tyndrum & Bridge of Orchy on the West Highland Line. In the centre is the viaduct which we crossed a few minutes later & the other limb of the horseshoe is on the left.
What a fabulous view from your carriage window to wake up to in the morning !
(Best appreciated in large view.)

HBM Ronda Andalusia Spain 10th March 2025
A RENFE diesel multiple unit arrives from the east into Ronda station. I believe it is the 12.06 to Algiceras but it was running late.
There are only 3 platforms at Ronda station but they are numbered 3, 5 and 7. Very strange!
HBM to everybody. Enjoy the start of the new week.
