Glad to be back. I've been preoccupied with some health issues. Hopefully I won't have to take so long between pictures again... for a while.

Trying out something really new always seems like such a great idea-- until almost the entire month goes by before you can resolve it. :o :D

I'm not sure why these spindle things on wall clocks ever existed. I've never seen one in the wild.

Oh, and I don't think I ever shared this instrumental from many years ago, which provided the title to this particular series. (Virginia Mayhew, USA-born: 1959)

That amusing main phrase comes courtesy of an old *Better Homes & Gardens* cookbook. They don't write 'em like that anymore. ;)

My gift to myself was getting this set to an even 10. :)
I hope you all had a good quality 25th, and that you have a wonderful New Year, too.

A whole lot of texture, patterning, and filtering here, but very few objects, for a change. I thought I'd give 'em the long weekend off. ;)
Without quite meaning to, I nostalgia-tripped for the small and simple art cards of almost two decades ago. (link) . Before my eyesight started to really go, uh... downhill. :P
Hope you enjoy it!

I haven't used this more greenish blue color very much recently. So I thought it would make a nice change. I hope you enjoy it.

Appropriately, Ellington *also* had a piece called "Like Late." :D
Though it was Michael Jackson's "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" that was playing when I finally wrapped this up.

When the stores are all out of Halloween candy, so you have to give out hunks of raw meat instead. You also must accept the fact that the neighbors will give you weird looks every day for the next year when you pass on the street.

Happy Saturday! (Or Sunday, depending on where you are.)
That floral shape is the same one as in this year's "Space Spider", but heavily filtered and recolored. After its transformation, it made me think of candy corn. Hence the title and the kids' Western motif. Hope you enjoy seeing it as much as I enjoyed making it.
Song reference , give or take a spelling change. :D
The accidental candy corn via filtration has happened before. Here , for instance. But that always was a favorite Halloween treat for me. So I'm good. ;)

That's a TON of text! What was I thinking?!
The blood red, of course, comes from looking at the news when I really shouldn't. And waiting so long to update comes from there, too. :/

Another small group graduates to its own album today!! :)
The music I listened to while putting this together was actually a modern group from Northern Nigeria: Etran de L'Air. Of course, multiple Jazz artists toured the world in the 20th Century and heard music from all over Africa. Then they brought what they learned back home. Had we not lost Parker so soon, perhaps he would have done so as well.
The text is Bill Miner's, from the back of Savoy's 1977 reissue LP of 1949's "Charlie Parker: Live At The Royal Roost."
