Geothermal shower!
(I'll be off to the Hamburg meeting, see you back next week.)
This hot shower by the road to Krafla Geothermal Power Plant (Kröfluvirkjun) is fully functional with 40°C hot water.
It makes use of an abandoned borehole but nobody really knows how it got there- supposedly it is an art installation (at one time there was also a washbasin and a toilet;-)
www.icelandreview.com/de/natur-und-reisen-de/von-geheimnisvollen-duschen-im-myvatnssveit
Kröfluvirkjun is where they accidentally drilled into the magma chamber of Krafla volcano. Now there are plans to do this again and utilize the energy.

Abandoned

Presumably the driver got help, as this is in front of a café and filling station - even though it's in the middle of nowhere!
Þetta reddast (it will work out alright) as Icelanders like to say;-)
Our bus got stuck in an official beach parking lot. The driver googled the nearest farm, called them and they came with a tractor and pulled him out. We missed the fun because we went for a walk in the meamtime.
Fløibanen

Fløibanen funicular railway goes up to 320m high Fløyen mountain, the first part is in a tunnel. This was taken just after the start, the red colour is from the train's rear lights.
At both town and Fløyen terminus there are graffiti- the figures with the striped jumpers can also be seen in many other places in Norway.

Höfði is the City of Reykjavík's guesthouse (since 1958). Originally built in 1909 for the French consul, it then was the home of poet Einar Benediktsson and in the 40ies and 50ies it housed the British embassy.
The house is famous for being the place of the 1986 meeting of Reagan and Gorbachev which ended the Cold war.

King's College Chapel in Cambridge, built 1446-1515 in Perpendicuar style, boasts of the largest fan vault in the world and still has its original stained glass windows. The main photo is from the choir, the notes are of the West and East windows. The altar painting is an original Rubens (Adoration of the Magi, 1634).

SC142 - windows, stained glass if possible
(We don't have any Victorian style stained glass in our town, On my walks this week I only saw modern style clear glass and the churches I tried were closed, so I have to resort to archives.)
An alcove in the Great Watching Chamber, situated behind Henry VIII's Great Hall at Hampton Court Palace.

Geysir - Haukadalur geothermal area

Haukadalur high temperature geothermal area is known for its geyers, mudpools and hot springs.
In autumn 2024 the area experienced a change with considerably heightend activity in many of the geothermal features. Strokkur geyser www.ipernity.com/doc/523247/36833892 erupts more often and Blesi (see note) which used to be a very calm hot spring has starting boiling.

Warum fallen eigentlich konservative OBs so gerne auf halbseidene Typen rein? Ein früherer OB wollte einen Trump-Tower bauen lassen, daraus wurde zum Glück auch nichts;-)
