Amanita muscaria, commonly known as the Fly Agaric. This is an old specimen where the usual white spots have weathered off in the rain. Taken as as 15 image in camera focus stack.

A tiny springtail, possibly Parisotoma notabilis, about 0.4mm in length taken at 5x magnification. Shrewsbury, Shropshire, November 2020. Notice the furca, the tuning fork shaped organ that allows springtails to spring, protruding out from the end of the abdomen. The large, dark object in the background is actually the larva of a soldier fly.

A Woundwort Shieldbug (Eysarcoris venustissimus) in my garden. This tiny specimen was sitting on a plastic compost sack, hence the unusual background. There is a breeding colony of these delightful little insects in my garden now, created by simply allowing their main food plant, Hedge Woundwort (Stachys sylvatica) to grow in a few places around the garden.
