The Maer, Exmouth, Devon
Situated near the seafront, the Maer Local Nature Reserve is perfect for a quiet walk away from the busy beaches and town. It is home to an abundance of wildlife, including the odd dinosaur apparently.

I'm back.............just in case anyone noticed I haven't been around :-)))
I'll try and catch up, even if it just means leaving yellow stars on your photos.
This was taken during a long walk around the River Otter Estuary, which has recently been re-wilded and developed into a beautiful salt-marsh environment. It is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
Shot in 16:9 format so best viewed large.

I shall be taking a short break from Ipernity from tomorrow (Monday) as we're off to visit family in Devon for a while.
I doubt I'll be commenting or posting much (if at all), but I hope you all have a lovely week and a Happy Easter.
Ladybird

Taken in my garden. There seem to be quite a few coming out of hibernation at the moment.
There's another couple of shots in the PiPs if you're interested.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend folks!
Spanish Bluebells
Taken from my garden and photographed indoors.
This species of bluebell was introduced to the UK by the Victorians in the early 1900s as a garden plant, but have since escaped into the wild and have spread across the country,.
Although Spanish bluebells are not on the invasive species list, there are worries out how they affect our native species of bluebells, because they readily spread and can outcompete them and hybridise them.
We have lots of these in the garden, despite the fact we keep digging them up and putting them in the compost bin (after the photos of course).

Apple Blossom (and Hover Fly)

Apple blossom with visiting hover fly. Taken this afternoon in my garden using my 60mm macro lens.

A dead Daff..!!
Taken in my local cemetery.........in post processing I made the background much darker and added a grunge texture and desaturated the flower a bit.
It won't be to everyone's taste, but I quite like how it turned out. Not everything in spring is bright and sunny!
Best viewed large!
Forget-me-nots
Picked from my garden to photograph indoors. They won't be missed, there are hundreds of them :-)))
Best viewed large, I think.
Dotted Bee-fly
I spotted this tiny dotted bee-fly dashing around the garden this afternoon collecting nectar from the forget-me-not flowers. I only had my 40-150mm zoom lens with me which wasn't ideal but I guessed that if I went indoors to change it, the bee-fly would have disappeared by the time I got back. These are large crops, but not too bad as record shots. More in the PiPs.

More Magnificent Magnolia

Taken from a bridge over the railway looking across to someone's back garden. Such a lovely display!
Common Birch
I spotted this during a walk round the back streets of my home town.
Captured against a rather dirty pink wall. I couldn't get the whole tree in the frame, but I quite liked this composition. I liked the vibrant green of the new leaves.
Better viewed large.......I think.
St Faith's Cemetery
A few photos from my walk around the cemetery this afternoon. There are several cemeteries in Havant, but this one is very old and is rarely used for burials nowadays. Apart from a small area, most of it is now managed for wildlife and wild flowers (see the sign in the PiP for details).
There is not much there at the moment, but I'll be back later for another look!

Please check out the PiP for a wider view. Thanks for looking :-)

The Swan Whisperer

Taken at Emsworth Harbour, Hampshire. This is Gordon who feeds the swans twice a day...........he's been doing it for many years and they seem to love him. He's fully authorised to do this by the council and wears a uniform jacket with the words Swan Welfare Volunteer.
