The mother cow is cleaned out, the placenta removed. I was surprised how calm she stayed throughout all of it. It was her first calf, at three years of age

The newly born calf is hung up so the fluids can drain out of her lungs and mouth, and within a few minutes she was mooing, and was then lowered into a wheelbarrow and taken to the other newborn calves for colostrum
